If you woke up last Sunday morning in the Georgetown areas of Bradford, Colony, and Stamping Ground to find your car doors wide open there was a reason why. Your vehicle had been burglarized.
As reported by the Georgetown News-Graphic there was a rash of vehicle break-ins in several areas. As it would seem no coincidence - as they all happened the same night - they were indeed related. And the Georgetown Police made quick work apprehending the suspect within a few hours and returning most of the stolen property.
The Georgetown City Police say they put the man responsible for breaking into 20 cars behind bars.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, approximately 20 vehicles were broken into in the Bradford, Colony and Stamping Ground areas, a statement from the department announced. Officer Teresa Hollon, Officer Tim Banta, Sergeant Chris Zirbes and Sergeant Mike Wagoner were able to quickly recover the stolen property and arrested Aaron Michael Adams, 19 on charges stemming from the break-ins.
A Georgetown Police Uniform Citation obtained by this blog shows that the suspect, 19-year-old Aaron Michael Adams, actually "admitted to taking the property". He was found in violation of Kentucky Statute 514.110 and charged with one count of Receiving Stolen Property.
Scott County Circuit Court records reveal that the defendant posted a $5000 bond and is on house arrest pending an October 16th hearing at 1:30 p.m before Judge Mary Jane Phelps. More to come on this case as it develops.
