Drunken Georgetown Man Charged with Burglary and Assault



The Georgetown Police Department say 37-year-old Kenneth Jack Cooper burglarized a residence, assaulted the homeowner, and was intoxicated on November 25th at 6:34 a.m.

According to the police citation, Cooper was yelling and cursing inside the victim's residence and refused to leave after being told to. When the defendant attempted to go upstairs where the rest of the family was the homeowner held him down at knife point until police arrived.

The victim was said to have received a laceration on his hand during the struggle. Police observed the smell of alcohol on the defendant and said his speech was slurred.

After being Mirandized the defendant could not explain why or how he was in the residence.

Court documents show his bond was reduced to 10% of $5,000, ordered to have weekly alcohol testing, and have no contact with the victim.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 8th.

  1. That's it? He broke in a family's home, assaulted someone, refused to leave, was intoxicated, and gets NOTHING!? No one criminals keep repeating their behavior.

Headline shoud read: Drunken Disorderly, Confused Man knocks on door thinking he was home, Instead knocked on Public Officals door, leading to his arrest and beating. Now I want our streets cleaned up just as much as anyone else and I understand everyone being on edge due to all the robberies. Our Peace Officers are here to help not beat someone senseless. They are trained to handle these kind of situation. So you see dear there are two sides to every coin.
