Georgetown Man Arrested for Meth Lab

The Scott County Sheriff"s Office has arrested and charged Georgetown resident, Michael Payton Gaines, with Manufacturing methamphetamine.

A Deputy responded on Sunday October 21st at 12:29 p.m. to a complaint of a "possible meth lab".

Upon arriving at the scene and discovering the lab the Deputy began an investigation into the owner of the lab materials and determined that it belonged to the suspect.

Once the suspect arrived at the scene he then began to flee "after Deputies advised him to stop", according to Scott County Sheriff documents. The suspect was apprehended "four houses down from his residence" and placed in custody.

Along with being charged with Manufacturing methamphetamine; the suspect was also charged with Fleeing or evading police - 2nd degree and Wanton endangerment - 1st degree.

The defendant is in the custody of the Scott County Detention Center, and being held on no bond until a scheduled court date of October 23rd, according to jail records.
