Kentucky Troopers Make Major Heroin Bust

A traffic stop on I-75 -- involving Kentucky State Police: Post 12 -- resulted in a bust of over a half-pound of heroin.

Reports indicate that troopers pulled over the driver of a 2005 Chrysler 300 Limited registered with Ohio plates for speeding (he was later found to have drugs in his possession).

According to the KSP the passenger and suspect, 27-year-old Ohio resident Austin Paul Wing, appeared to be nervous and had poor body language. When asked about drugs in the vehicle the subject indicated he was not willing to answer the question. He then asked to exit the vehicle.

When the suspect exited the vehicle he pushed the Trooper, ran into a nearby wooded area, and jumping two fences in the process. At this time the suspect was observed pulling a bag from his pants and throwing it to the ground and then fell and was place into custody.

The bag of heroin was weighed at over a half-pound and the defendant has prior felony drug convictions in Ohio. One Trooper suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The defendant was charged with Trafficking in controlled substance - first degree, Fleeing or evading police, and Tampering with physical evidence. He was being held at the Scott County Detention Center as of this morning on $10,000 full cash bond and also was on the 1:00 p.m. court docket today.
