Man Helps Himself to Employer's Checks, Other Charges

Jody Christopher Courtney, listed as a resident of the 2000 block of Weisenberger Mill Rd. in Midway, is back in jail again. He was placed on probation in September of 2012 for misdemeanor Theft by unlawful taking.

He subsequently violated that probation and then failed to appear in court resulting in two separate warrants for his arrest. Those warrants were both served on 02/22/13 by a deputy from the Scott Sheriff's office.

Mr. Courtney was also arrested for a new felony Warrant for Theft by unlawful taking. This case involves the theft of items that were in turn pawned. The details are as follows:

But that's not all. He was also arrested on a new Uniform Citation complaint. This involves the theft of checks from his employer resulting in three counts of felony Criminal possession of forged instrument in the second degree. See details:

The defendant is being held at The Scott County Detention Center for a future court hearing. Mr. Courtney did admit to Scott deputies that he committed these charges, knew they were wrong, and said it was due to his drug addiction.
