Officer Holds Women at Gunpoint After Bizarre Walmart Theft

Officers from the Georgetown Police Department were at the Georgetown Walmart writing a report from a previous shoplifting incident when the situation took a bizarre turn.

Customers from the establishment started yelling at the officers that the store had just been robbed. The police observed a male juvenile heading west on Osbourne Way with patrons from the store giving chase on foot.

Police say the chase continued to nearby side road Frazier Court where the officer allegedly saw the juvenile enter a vehicle. The driver was later identified as 27-year-old Carrie Leedonna Thomas, a resident of georgetown.

When the vehicle was approached - according to police records - the officer ordered the defendant to stop and turn off the automobile. Ms. Thomas said "I didn't do anything" and would not comply. There were also three other females in the car at the time.

When the officer ordered that everyone show their hands Ms. Thomas, allegedly, placed the vehicle in drive and drove toward the officer. At this point the officer drew his weapon, held the the occupants at gunpoint, and requested backup. After assistance arrived they detained the subjects without incident.

Ms. Thomas is charged with Wanton endangerment in the first degree, Theft by unlawful taking, Operating motor vehicle on suspended or revoked license, and Criminal trespass in the third degree. She was released on $2,000 bond and is awaiting a future court date.
