Man and Woman Jailed for Local Burglary

25-year-old Myranda Celeste Skinner and 26-year-old Jeffery Nicholas Bettiga were both - as of Tuesday morning - being held on $10,000 bond in connection with an alleged burglary of a local residence.

The two co-defendants have the same charges of Burglary in the second degree and Criminal mischief in the third degree.

Co-Defendants
Burglary in the second is classified as a Class C felony and is punishable up to 10 years in prison.

The incident started when a witness called the police and stated that a female was trying to gain access to the front door but failed and went into the backyard of the home.

When Georgetown Police arrived - described in a uniform citation - they noticed the back gate and a rear window open with the screen removed. After announcing themselves, trying to make contact by knocking, and verbally challenging the occupants they made entry.

One officer noticed window blinds opening. A sunsequent search commenced and the suspects were found to be hiding inside and were booked into the Scott County Detention Center. Police describe the home to have been rummaged through.
