Update: Man Arrested for Drug Related Auto Incident Posts Bond



The Georgetown man, Andrew Barnett, charged with multiple drug charges has plead not guilty, posted $10,000 bond, and been released from Scott County Detention Center.

The defendant posted bond on October 16th according to Scott County Circuit Court records. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct, 23rd.

The incident involved the defendant's truck running off the road, hitting two road signs at the McDonald's on Southgate, and being charged with multiple drug charges by Georgetown Police.

Georgetown Man Runs Vehicle of the Road and Faces Multiple Drug Charges

An officer from The Georgetown Police Department was "flagged down in reference to a vehicle that ran off the road" on Sunday morning October 13th at the McDonald's on Southgate Drive. He then made contact with the suspect, Andrew Barnett, who was the driver of the vehicle, a Toyota truck. Barnett then admitted to driving the truck, and when asked if he was "under the influence of any alcohol or illegal drugs", he said he was not.

Upon investigation, the officer discovered that the suspect had an outstanding warrant for Failure to appear, citation for misdemeanor - according to Georgetown Detention Center records.

After placing the suspect under arrest for the warrant he then began a search of the incident area, the suspect, and the vehicle. The officer found a "black film canister" containing white powder that the suspect admitted to being cocaine. Other items were also found including a bag of marijuana.

In all the defendant was charged with Drug paraphernalia, Possession of marijuana, Possession of cocaine 1st degree, and promoting contraband in the first degree for admitting possession of "what is suspected to be Xanax" upon arriving at the jail.



Barnett is being held at The Scott County Detention Center on $10,000 bond and has a court date scheduled for October 16th.
