Georgetown Man Runs Vehicle of the Road and Faces Multiple Drug Charges

An officer from The Georgetown Police Department was "flagged down in reference to a vehicle that ran off the road" on Sunday morning October 13th at the McDonald's on Southgate Drive. He then made contact with the suspect, Andrew Barnett, who was the driver of the vehicle, a Toyota truck. Barnett then admitted to driving the truck, and when asked if he was "under the influence of any alcohol or illegal drugs", he said he was not.

Upon investigation, the officer discovered that the suspect had an outstanding warrant for Failure to appear, citation for misdemeanor - according to Georgetown Detention Center records.

After placing the suspect under arrest for the warrant he then began a search of the incident area, the suspect, and the vehicle. The officer found a "black film canister" containing white powder that the suspect admitted to being cocaine. Other items were also found including a bag of marijuana.

In all the defendant was charged with Drug paraphernalia, Possession of marijuana, Possession of cocaine 1st degree, and promoting contraband in the first degree for admitting possession of "what is suspected to be Xanax" upon arriving at the jail.

Barnett is being held at The Scott County Detention Center on $10,000 bond and has a court date scheduled for October 16th.
