Lexington Man Arrested for Shoplifting at Walmart

Last week Georgetown Police were dispatched to the Georgetown Walmart in reference to a shoplifter observed by Loss Prevention stealing a Blu-Ray player and a Roku Box. The items were valued at $138.00 and $98.00.

The police arrived and quickly identified the defendant, Mark Royal Wood, in the parking lot and placed him in custody.

The defendant is listed as a resident of Lexington on Alexandria Drive according to Scott County Detention Center records. However, the Uniform Citation lists his address as Smith Street in Springfield, Tennessee.

The stolen items were only partially recovered. The Blu-Ray player was discovered under a vehicle but the Roku Box was never found. That would seem to indicate there was another subject involved in the crime as there is no vehicle listed in the report and his address was listed as Lexington. But that is only speculation at this point on our part.

The defendant is charged with Theft by unlawful taking and was scheduled to appear in court on November 20th.

  1. The Roku was recovered on the second individual involved in the incident. this second subject had also taken a bluesy player of the same value and was discovered by video after having fled from loss prevention during an attempted apprehension. the second subject was observed on video running behind gamestop and Aaron's where he removed his outer layer of clothing and returned around the back of the store through the treeline. he was located by police at papajohns in his boxer shorts and tank top claiming he had been out jogging with his girlfriend, hence the skimpy clothing in the 40 degree weather. video and Walmart loss prevention confirmed his identity through video and questioning and also identified the vehicle both subjects arrived in through surveillance video.
